Book Description:

In this third book in the bestselling Lunar Chronicles series, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.

Their best hope lies with Cress, who has been trapped on a satellite since childhood with only her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker—unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.

When a daring rescue goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a high price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing stop her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only ones who can.

What I Think:

Why oh why did I not realize this was not the last book?!?!  I kept expecting the pace of the book to pick up so that it would conclude and give me the happy ending I was longing for.  It has an ending, but it is not the end!!!  Either way, I was impressed with Meyer’s ability to include so many different story lines going in tandem and that she was able to add in another fairy tale in such a natural way.  And I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that the next fairy tale will somehow center around Princess Winter and her craziness (not sure what fairy tale that is, but I guess I’ll find out).  The book did go on a little long, but it has to in order to cover all of the many characters.  Since Cress and Thorne were somewhat introduced and the main supporting cast in this book, I will comment on their similarity to the recently released Tangled movie.  Thorne plays the aloof and selfish hero very well and Cress is all goodness.  Loved the book overall despite my disappointment at having to wait until the next one.  I hope you enjoy it as well!
